TenStarsplus!!!! Even though I don't understand a word of Russian, this music is beautiful beyond words!!!! But what can you expect when the great Sergei Rachmaninoff was inspired by God to write this beautiful piece of music, and the choir performed it the way it was meant to sound!!! Thank you for posting this, and now I have to dry my tears!!

Yes, it is, and is the premiere recording. It is remarkable that such glorious music was not recorded for 50 years after its first performance.

This is the MOST profoundly emotive singing, unearthly in its soaring beauty.
Thank you for uploading this!
P.S. I really don't think the bass singing on its own, without the haunting loveliness of the contralto would sound all that splendid.

My choir and I were able to perform this in Grace Cathedral in San Francisco in 2008(?), it was one of the most amazing experiences of my singing career <3
