Steve Blake air balls decisive three in 2009 playoffs game 3 against Houston. Click "more info" for a recap of the situation. Sorry for the resolution, editing software scaled down my HD input material and I couldn't yet get it better going through all settings. But you get the idea.

I don't hate Steve, it's just clearly the most memorable moment of that series for me. And yeah, I know I'm far behind the trend of "Where Amazing Happens" videos.

"Portland had no timeouts left at this point, but with a full 16 on the clock there was plenty of time to get up a decent look.

Or so you'd think.

Instead Steve Blake came down alone and with a full 11 seconds remaining lofted an extremely long, angle-shot 27-footer that sailed in the air like a dying quail and came down like a dead one. The ball may have been tipped or he may have been touched. I couldn't tell. Either way, it was an awful looking shot...more so with that much time left from that distance and tightly covered. I can only think that maybe he thought he got fouled and was shooting in order to draw the free throws. Otherwise...ugh.

The Blazers were forced to foul immediately."

  • @thomasike traveled and fell out of bounds untouched, refs say thats a foul!

  • well, blake just hit a pull up 40 foot three on the play before that with two defenders in his face with 16 seconds left and like 22 seconds on the shotclock. he was feeling hot. cough cough cough

  • Does anyone know what the name of the song is?

  • LOL wait until he does that for the Lakers in the next playoffs...

  • Everyone knows where the ball goes in this situation. Hint: Beef and Fish.

    Problem solved.

Obviously can't expect him to be Steve Kerr.

  • What the FUCK??? "hmmm I have one of the most clutch players in the NBA we have time to get off a good shot we are down by three in the playof-I THINK ILL JACK UP A 30-FOOT THREE" *airball* *awkward silence* damn you Steve Blake. Stop making gay babies with your awkward silences and your awkward whiteness. I remember watching that game on espn and mike breen was like:"wow that was an absolutely terrible shot! Why's he shooting there?! If anyone should force up a three it should be Brandon Roy"

  • Is this totally the forgotten moment of the Blazers season last year? I almost forgot about this, in fact I did forget. I blocked it from my memory. This makes me so happy Blake got traded. Fucking little bitch always choked. He missed way more big 3's than he made, and as you can see had the hero mentallity.

  • is it just me, or did battier travel after getting the rebound?

  • That video was hilarious.

  • LOL why am I not surprised Ben = first comment.

    Ok, I'll bite. FREE BAYLESS
