Eric Buhain, batch 87, is best known for being the finest swimmer this country has ever produced. But few truly comprehend the sacrifices he undertook to be successful in the pool and in the classroom. In the end, it was all worth it.

I was one of Eric's swimmers, back in the days when he was coaching ESSDA. It's quite nostalgic to hear him talk about -his own- experiences as a student athlete, because they are similar to my own experiences under him. While I may have stopped swimming long ago, I will always remember Eric for showing me (not just TELLING me) that discipline and perseverance truly do lead to excellence.
