@chomsky88 So many emotions in the film. Who knows, Owen may have wanted Abby to bite him so they could be together forever. I think the time period has a lot to do with it. Being the early 80s it was easier to get away with things (no cell phones, security cameras, etc). If Abbys "father" was 60 in the film, then they met sometime in the 30s. I don't know if Owen would have reached it to that age, but I agree, if he did he wouldn't be happy. But the fact is that he was happy then

I love this film, but though the ending was meant to be a happy one(showing them being together) it was actually quite horrible for the boy since he will grow up and be in the same position as the man she was with at the beginning. Hopelessly in love with a twelve year old girl who will never grow up and doing horrible things to get her the blood she needs to survive.
