End of the Penn State - Iowa Basketball Game 2/27/08 - FOUL?

Suspicious calls from the officiating crew. Thanks for the support Rick Hartzell. You'd think since getting let go (or leaving) as the A.D. at UNI, you'd have more time on your hands to learn how to officiate correctly. Guess not.

Sour grapes? Maybe. But that video shows a lot.

Here's the bottom line:
Look, I am a HUGE fan of swallowing the whistle at the end of the games. Unless someone is completely mugged, you have to swallow your whistle. With that in mind, the foul on Bohall should have never been called. Seeing that it was, I have no idea why there wasn't one called on Battle and then again on Cornley.

That was a payback call for the BS pass interference call in the PSU-IOWA football game on 3rd and 15 with 2 minutes left.

Completely wrong. The teams do "decide the game" every time they foul.

Guys like Hartzel are at the top of the scale in men's Div. I basketball officiating, and they're evaluated every single minute and on every single call of every game and rated accordingly. If they were as bad as you think he/they are, they wouldn't still be working these games.

Just be consistent, that's all anyone asks for officiating. It wasn't consistent in this game. Like players, officials have bad games too, this was one of them. Maybe now that Hartzell left UNI, he can work on his officiating full-time.

As a PSU fan, I have to say you got a legit complaint there. However, what I'd be pissed about even more if I were a Hawkeye fan is how the hell you guys managed to lose despite shooting 57% (including 12 three-pointers?).

Good point. Once Tate got into foul trouble (and ultimately fouled out), Iowa had no inside game.  12 treys (which is awesome) is only 36 points, you gotta get points elsewhere. Without Tate, there was no inside game and Iowa struggled from there out. Tate fouled out with over 5 min to go. Iowa didn't hit a FG the rest of the way.
