This one is based on a story that's been circulating the internet about a mule that killed a mountain lion. The story was first sent to me in January, 2005. Three days later, I wrote down this song.

  • Heh thats fake, the mule would stomp on the cat. Lion attacks are usually very short, if the cat would attack such a big animal (not likely) with people around holding a camcorder it would give up very fast. Not a chance those hounds would be sitting there in the background if there was a live cougar around, this video is revolting, certainly not respectable hunters.

  • The story continues to make the rounds on the net. The first time it was sent to me was Dec of '04. (see my other comments from about a month ago) I understand one of the mule magazines did a story on it as well where the mule owner admitted the lion was already dead. BTW, I think he also said the mule's name is Benny. :)

  • While the story being passed around the net claims it to be a true story, apparently the owner of the mule thats in those pictures has admitted the lion was already dead. While one of the pictures does make it appear that the lion was fighting back, you'll notice the ends of the reins to the left of the lions head swung up in the same position. Inertia from being swung posed the lion and the reins in that picture.

  • Some of you folks just ain't never been around horses and mules. They call ya'll city folks. The mule was fighting for his life and he won. Don't underestimate the power of a domestic animal. City Folks!!

  • anyone who says a mule couldn't/wouldn't do that hasn't been around livestock that much. remember to think before you run off at the mouth.

    like the song, good job.

  • @scotty1045 Yeah city folks think chocolate milk comes from brown cows

  • Apparently this is common on ranches and farms in Alberta, they have donkeys and mules that guard the place and those bad asses bite them and trample them to death, i know of a few places that use them solely for guarding livestock against cougars and coyotes.

  • whatever you think about mules, (and I think it is quite possible that one could kill a mt. lion, although 99/100 would run or get immediately killed, some cougars are known to kill elk and other top predators for that matter) THESE ARE FAKE PICTURES. This story was made by a guy that let his horse "play" with the corpse he left of that lion. It then became an urban myth, but it was 100% not killed by that horse.

Also, ask yourself: Why is there no pic of the lion being certainly alive??

  • Mules are horses on steroids and make excellent "guard dogs"! I know that a Mule would stand it's ground with Mountain Lion and win. They weigh 1000 lbs. +, a Mountain Lion about 120 lbs. They are truly a UNIQUE animal. I love them!

  • I've seen our mule Snickers knock the snot out of a coyote that got into the pasture. But not a mountain lion, cuz we don't have too many of those cats around Kansas =)

  • i have worked with mules and horses for year. a mule is fully capable of willing killing a moutain lion if it attacks. i have found dea coyotes dogs and bobcats all killed by mules. they will chase down predetors and stomp them to dust. an all y'all city people gotta stop talkin bout things you dont understand.

  • Love the song it was so cute

  • @oktahahorses Oh my God Gerry! That was hilarious! Thank you for the irreverent comedy to combat the hype.

I still hear people talk about the video footage of the alleged fight. What a bunch of dil-holes.

Thank you again for sharing your talent with the world.

  • Fact or fiction, its a good story and only made better by this great little song. Thanks

  • @revolution7581 good point. there is now way a mule would just go down without a fight.
