@mountaings The law of nations was never the basis of the constitution. The 1758 book never contained the term Natural Born Citizen. Also he didn't claim what you think he did. Parens in french is widely understood as blood relative and not parent. The way the portion you're talking about reads is that anyone with a blood relative is a Natural or native. Also Vattel was 29th out of the philosophers quoted in the founders writings, Blackstone was 3rd.

@mountaings You're confusing allegiance with jurisdiction. Obama had no allegiance to any other nation as an adult. You're basically claiming any country's laws can overrule our own. It's ridiculous. Several presidents had "ties" in the first generation to a foreign nation. Buchanan, Arthur are two. Jefferson had dual citizenship as an adult after he willingly got French citizenship. Spiro Agnew was a dual greek and American citizen at birth and was still one when he was VP.
