  • He didn't say "trick" bowling, he said tricky sport bowling conditions. Need help picking a ball? What are your lanes like? Oily or dry. How fast do you throw the ball? Do you get a lot of revs. Do you throw with a fingertip grip or convensional grip? Do you need more hook? These will help knowing in trying to deside. If you can tell me, I can get a general idea as to what you may need.

  • i ended up getting a cell solid :P pin off to the right...i shot my first 700 series the other day :) i cant believe i was so close to a 300.

    SCORE: 197,230,278

    278 game was X X X X X X 9/ X X X X 9

both those were single pins! arggggg the spare was a 5 pin and another pin hit it and didnt knock it over.... and last 9 was a solid 10! so im still waiting for my first 300

  • @who8mahbacon getting a ball that is made to curve is your best bet. getting a finger tip ball makes it easier to curve it. with a house ball you are more consentrated on curving the ball and not focused on hitting your mark (personal experiance). with the finger tip balls you can hook the ball easier and you don't have to think about hooking it. you just need to be focused on hitting your mark. are you in a league

p.s. if there are spelling mistakes, sorry. btw, if it's wordy i'm also sorry.

  • you know, ive been told houseballs, and plastic balls dont curve or spin very easily. so i started to think to myself. am i sort of a god, because i can but a good amount of spin on houseballs, i can actualy get a descent score around 200-220 with them. is buying a ball that is made to curve worth it if a i can make a ball not made to curve, curve perfectly fine?

  • well they said if the pin is higher then it goes longer then if its lower. And they said they hooking amount is side to side right, Well what side makes the ball hook more left or right?

  • No, it may not be drilled lefty, but drilled for someone who has a low track. The lower track will shift his PAP to a point where the pin may be on the index finger. Drilling should be set up according to PAP, so even if you Pin to PAP distance and angles are the same, the pin will be in different locations in reference to your fingers.

  • I've seen that too. When the PAP is less than the distance of the pin placement, some track inversion to the thumb is likely to occur.

  • First off, if you want more revolution on your ball, have your wrist to stay underneath the ball once you throw your ball. Slow your feet down and your last couple of steps to the foul line should be shorter. The twisted fury is a good ball. The pin is on top of the finger holes, which makes the ball goes farther down the lane and snap in the backend of the lane. Your revs should coordinate with your speed. Try and practice on that. Those are my suggestions.

  • A reverse pitch will make your thumb hang a little bit more, which can give you a little bit more time to give you some more revs on the ball. I would use a forward pitch, so that you can get out of it quicker, but I would use a thumb sleeve. It will make you more hook on the ball.

If you need more hook, get a ball with a duller coverstock. And make sure that your pin is underneath the finger holes, so that the ball will grab the lane a quicker.

  • I am just an average bowler who averages only in the 180's in each of the last 3 years. I only bowl once a week. Medium oil. I do not get a lot of revs. I use a fingertip. I need more hook, lot a whole lot of hook. Would reverse pitch or forward pitch help get my thumb out of the ball easily? Thank you.

  • That second ball from the right must be drilled for a leftie, right? Otherwise that pin is way farther than 6 3/4 inches from the PAP. I have read that a pin that far away can cause back flaring.
