  • Houston has the best New Flyer Fleet but septas are cool too. Their windows are the same.

  • Maybe someday I'll go to Houston, TX & check them out.

  • I sure love hearing the good ol' Series 50 engine EGR on this bus! When will these buses be repowered to Cummins ISL engine?

  • SEPTA started on the 2003. I guess when they finsh with them, They will start on the 2004's

  • What routes were this and 3446 on?

  • 5787 on Rt. J 3446 Rt. 25

  • Cummins may burn cleaner but that Detroit will last longer!!

  • LOL, LMAO. It's ashame I got to deal with these everyday on the K. I did not sit in the back of a New Flyer with a dd50 since they were new.

  • @juan833blue Good to know!! The ones with the Cummins engines are as loud as the ones with the Series 50 were quiet.

  • @metroktransit well B400R sound better with these. Check out some of Toronto's D40LFs...

  • @juan833blue The engine bay on the 2000-2002 flyers are the same size as the 2003-2005 New Flyers. The REAL reason why those buses aren't getting repowered is because when the time came for them to do so, funding was not available. Now these buses are getting repowered with a rebuilt Detroit Diesel Series 50 engine for the last remaining years of their life cycle.

  • i miss the old sound, now there all overhauled :( overhauled still awesome though

  • the only time i rode a bus with a series 50 was a greyhound mc12. MCI and their leaps of braveory. they will find a way to run a d4500 on a little powerstroke if they wanted without sacrificing performance XD

  • @metroktransit To solve your question a little more clearly; all of the 5400 and 5500 Series D40LFs from SEPTA will not be repowered by the ISL, they will keep the Series 50 engine because the engine bay on those buses are too small for the ISL to be placed.

  • I've always wanted to drive a bus since I was a little bus

  • i-like-cummins-better-they-go-a-lot-faster
