Backstage Crush Chapter 21

The song ended and Katie couldn’t believe her ears. Kevin and her brothers are so incredible to her. She was crying uncontrollably when Kevin stood up and took her hand, as the audience screamed at the top of their lungs. Kevin took the microphone out of it’s stand and held it up to his mouth. Still holding onto her hand, he started to speak.
“Thank you” He paused as more screams filled the air. “Wow, you guys are an awesome audience. Okay, so now that we made Katie cry in front of all of you, I have a little story.”
Katie wiped her cheeks and gave Kevin a puzzled look.
“About two years ago, we had a show in Madison Square Garden.”
Those who went screamed.
“And during on of our songs, I looked out into the audience to see this girl, jumping and singing with all of her heart. She looked so happy and so excited to be there.... well to tell you the truth, I couldn’t stop thinking about that girl, even now.” Kevin smiled at Katie, as she stood confused at his side. “And yesterday, my brothers and I were doing a little shopping here in New York City, when we walked into one of our favorite music stores, and I spotted this girl right here.” Kevin held up Katie’s hand in his. “And I recognized her, so I went up to her and said hello, and the minute she turned around, and I saw that sparkle in her eyes, I knew, this was the girl from the Garden.”
Katie’s mouth dropped in shock. She was the girl that Kevin Jonas had been searching for, for the past two years of his life? She didn’t care how stupid she looked up on stage, with her tear streaked face and red cheeks, she was the girl Kevin Jonas fell in love with.
“Katie Martin, was the girl I had seen two years ago at one of our concerts. And I know that every single one of you out there tonight have had those dreams, where you meet and fall in love with your dream guy or girl. Well, for the past two years, that was me, and this girl right here, is the girl of my dreams. So Katie Martin.” Kevin paused, pulled his hand away from Katie’s and reached into his pocket. She watched him pull out a small box, that looked soft to the touch and she took in a deep breath.
“Katie, last night, my brothers and I did some more shopping. And we found this, just for you.” Kevin opened the box to reveal a silver ring, topped off with a medium sized pink stone, surrounded by small diamonds. Katie’s mouth dropped again as the audience screamed.
“It’s a promise ring, that someday, when you’re out of school, and we’re both ready, that I’ll buy you an engagement ring and we’ll get married and live happily ever after. What do you say?”
“Give her a sec, Kev.” Nick suggested as the audience waited for Katie to respond.
“Yeah, at least wait ‘til she shuts her mouth.” Joe said, and the audience started laughing.
“Joseph Adam Jonas, will you ever act your age?” Katie exclaimed into the microphone that Kevin held out for her.
“No Katie, and when you accept Kevin’s proposal, you’ll see that.”
“Well, in that case, I would love to know that someday, I’ll be your wife Kevin Jonas.”
Kevin picked her up and spun her around the stage as the audience and the entire Jonas family cheered. Katie took Kevin’s face in her hands and kissed him on the lips. She didn’t care about what anyone said, Kevin Jonas was the most amazing, incredible, boyfriend soon to be husband in the entire world. And she was the luckiest girl alive. She looked out into the audience at her friends, who were crying and cheering, and realized that she was surrounded by people who love her. Kevin released her from a hug and went to his brothers to take a bow at the end of their performance.
“I hope you saw that Aunt Ruth. I hope you saw that amazing man ask for me to be in his life forever. ‘Cause I know you would be proud.” Katie said softly to herself, as she watched her future husband wave good-bye to all his fans.

Katie finished her senior year at New York University with all A’s, and went on to work in a crime investigation office in California. Vanessa also graduated and is taking a year off before medical school and traveling the world with Mackenzie. Jenny is off in fashion school, getting ready to open her own store. Joe did end up falling in love, with a girl named Ella, and they married a few years later. Nick found love too, with another former MA resident named Megan. About a year or so after Kevin and Katie married, Nick proposed to Megan. The Jonas Brothers are still on tour, and Joe’s already going to be a father. Kevin and Katie are thinking about starting a family and hope to make Denise and Kevin Sr. grandparents soon. They already had a name picked out; Ruth. Katie still rarely won anything, but with Kevin, she believes she has it all.
