New precautions about liver damage have been added to the labeling for Cymbalta (duloxetine), which is used to treat major depressive disorder and diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain.

The labeling had already warned of hepatotoxicity from the drug, and cautioned that it should not be prescribed in patients with substantial alcohol use. Now, based on new reports of hepatitis in patients taking Cymbalta, the labeling states that the drug should not be administered to any patients with evidence of chronic liver disease.

  • the Doc gave it me today! should i take it!!? cause i've had enough of docz sayin u should take it and people sayin u shouldnt...!??

  • The title of this video is very misleading. What this guy in the video is trying to say is, "If you're already having liver problems via alcohol or diease, cymbalta can aggrevate the problem. Not necessarily cause it." If you barely drink and have a healthy liver, cymbalta won't hurt your liver.

  • Also a word of advice to those who suffer from treatment resistant depression, go see a psychiatrist, most general practitioners don't know their psych meds as well as they should. My pdoc was stunned at how high a dosage of effexor, my gp had me on 300 mg had my heart beating out of my chest. Cymbalta and effexor are hell to discontinue. Withdrawals are worse than the depression. I am on Wellbutrin Xl 150 currently and it is working better than anything else I have tried.

  • Cymbalta has a lot of drug interactions, according to my Pdoc, effexor or wellbutrin would be a better choice if ssri's don't help.

  • @cuteEvil87 No Dont take it! Look up cymbalta side effects

There are sooo many negative side effects, and I heard it doesn't even help and can make your condition worse!

  • I was on that before, they gave it to me for ANXIETY!!!!! what the hell!!!

  • Cymbalta caused death in a loved one after 6 weeks.

  • See this is a big turn off , I have liver damage and if cymbalta is going to hurt me more, I cant take it, but I want to take it. I will talk to my doc about this.

  • will this help my GAD? anxiety?? i got from a bad pot experince??? ive tryed alot of SSRI's like zoloft and paxil.. horrible.. also xananx and klonopin.. nothing works.. im on 10mg of oxzepam 4-6 times a day.. doctors says i can have up to 100mg a day.. also have IBD..colitis.. ive been on alot of things for my anxiety ..natrual things too ect 4 life ..any advice please feel free.best regards

  • This Crap was the worst ever to get off... I found it alot worse than Effexor

  • Cymbalta may not hurt my liver but it has hurt just about every other aspect of my life when I try to get off the shit...DO NOT TAKE THIS...as for the person who wondered why it hasn't been taken off the market...many people are hooked and it would be sheer torture for me if it were taken off the market...someone needs to go after these people!
