Here is the Toccata by Sergej Prokofieff on the Klais Organs in the Cathedral of Koln, Germany

Much thanks to Martin Doering of www.die-orgelseite.de for allowing me use of his fantastic pictures.

  • @mihihi What, as in it is not as fast as how the pianists play it? You have to keep in mind that we organists have to deal with acoustics which sometimes hang around for like seven seconds once a note as been sounded. If you play in an building with alot of acoustic such as Köln Kathedral at prestissimo, the piece would not make any sense at all because it will be all a blur of noise.

  • that is your tempo feeling in a toccata?? joke?

  • listen to those acoustics... it sounds like it's being played at the bottom of the sea

  • @Steinweg100

hehe...I experienced the same think when I played Bach-Gounod Ave Maria on wedding in chatedral...there is no delay on 1st and 2nd manual, but 3rd!...delay of 1sec!!...hard to keep concetration but everything went fine at the end.......I playing Widor Toccata too...pretty easy but effectively peace

  • @gorunlove I entirely agree with you! All the drama, too, is beautfully clear: definition...mmmm, I remember playing an organ, which had a terrible delay....it was the Widor Tocatta, I was all of fourteen, not an organist, nor had I played that organ before; my friend signalled for me to keep going; I could do nothing but not dare to listen and play on HA!!

  • haha...you make me lough...put a piano in that chatedral and play this piece...I don't think that you will play in original tempo because of acoustic....I think that is pretty nice tempo and you can hear everything whats happeninig inside compared with so high-performace piano version where you can't hear anything else but pile of sound

  • The videos are nice, but this piece is certainly being played awfully slowly! Are the various organs in the cathedral interconnected, or are we hearing only the organ hanging off the triforium wall?

  • This is awesome! Thank you so much for all your fantastic videos!
