How To Handle Anxiety, Stress: Stillness & Meditation vs. Mental Health Drugs

In this free video, Suzanne Armistead talks with Farrah about her experience with stillness and meditation, and how they have helped her deal with social anxiety. Farrah discusses how anxiety made her feel physically and how gaining control of her physical body helped her to quiet her mind and slow anxious thoughts as well. Exercise and fitness have also played a large role in helping Farrah overcome anxiety.

When asked about how stillness affects her as a psychiatrist, Farrah points out that treating the symptoms of a mental illness usng drugs can be more detrimental to the underlying problems, and that having a healthy, sustainable way to handle anxiety, depression, stress, etc. will be more beneficial in the long run than trying to use medications.

If we want to be happy with ourselves, to love ourselves and truly appreciate the beauty of life, it's important to relax, place intention on our physical bodies, clear the mind, quiet our thoughts and be here now. Happiness does not come from material possessions or from another person, it comes from within. We all have infitinite joy within us, and Suzanne is dedicated to helping others discover their joy as she has.

  • Very interesting subject. Thanks for the info in this video, it's really great.

  • @bigbad1000do7a Typical...

  • try to do that when you have tinitus...

  • So... this is a commercial then *rolleyes*

  • Can I ask a question?? DO you ever get Paranoid??

  • Show me a person who has washed their hands until they bleed to just to feel safe about the germs who has used meditative practices to help themselves. I am just pointing out that a person with the resources and brain power to make it through the schooling to become a psychiatrist could not have been in bad shape at all and therefore is not a very good example of what "stillness" can do.

  • @bigbad1000do7a Is it the thoughts about her body or possibly a bondage and discipline thing with a psychiatrist? The appropriate arrangements could justify the State paying for your adventure with that Professional Woman.

  • mmmmmmmmm......i don't know...........
