It's been a long time since I did any videos about this project. I'm not sure what will become of it now.

  • I'm very sorry you cannot continue with this wonderful project. Gary

  • @HD7100 I hope that I can find a good home for it some day. In the mean time, at least it is safe.

  • Please finish this. It's a grand organ and when finished I'm sure you can find a home for it(mine if needed ;) )

  • @jacktheripped I doubt it will ever get finished. It's just too far beyond my budget and time. I tried to sell it once already with no success.

  • Bah! Don't sell it bro. There has to be alternatives. My old man let his 67 Chevy go after all the years he spent working on it, just cause he was hurting for cash. The money make will get spent and you'll end up wishing you could have finished this project for yourself. Just hang on to man.

  • That is so cool...having a piece of American history like that in your basement.

Any idea what became of the pipework section of this instrument? Would be fun to track that down.

What you could also do is contact your local theater organ society and have an organist come out and give it a whirl (of course letting him/her know it is currently a project).

That would probably get you motivated about it again!

  • and i am proud to say i am married to a kilgen

  • George Kilgen and Son's, Inc. mostly produced pipe organs for churches. The few theater organs produced were displaced by 'talkies' and the Great Depression. I can see the love and respect you have for this organ! But I can hear your frustration, also. So it goes-"the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." Thank you for all you have done for this beautiful instrument. The Kilgen organ was a seventh-generation business that began in Germany.

  • very interesting bloke !

  • My God, that is a gorgeous piece of equipment. You have to finish it. To quote a line from Real Genius, "It's your moral imperative..." :-)

  • This is waht I need to get back my lost playing skills. :) The first theatre organ I ever played was a 4/19 Kilgen in the WHAS Louisville station. It has a beautiful sound. It was a perfect studio organ.

  • You can do it! (It's a great project, and the progress made so far is wonderful) I hope you can finish it :)
