Fantasia introduced me to Sacre at the age of six. One of the first orchestral pieces I remember hearing in my lifetime :-)

No Fantasia was good in it's own time. The year was 1941. These kids are excellent musicians and Leonard Bernstein somehow manages to get the best out of them. Igor's asymmetry racket sounds good!

Stokowski, who conducted the Fantasia version, was famous for rewriting scores. He also sometimes had extreme interpretations of pieces. So you get an extreme, questionable interpretation of a score he had the audacity to re-write in some places. That's why people don't like the Fantasia version.

True. Stravinsky, however, detested how they used The Rite in Fantasia.

No, it was quite the opposite:

Stravinsky happily took a few photos with Disney, himself, playing with the statuettes of the dinos.

That's not the way Walt Disney put it:

They were joking around with the sculptures that were made of the beasts, and acted out he scenes that they were going to piece together up against the animators' hand-drawn backgrounds.

That's not how Walt Disney put it when he met the composer:

The two were joking around, and playing out the scenes with the statuettes that they were to piece together for the film, against the animators' hand-drawn backdrops.

I have to say though; the Fantasia version is not nearly as good as many other versions recorded.
