U.S. Senate Republican Whip Jon Kyl quizzes Congressional Budget Office Director Douglas Elmendorf during the Senate Finance Committee's markup of the Baucus conceptual health-care reform bill. Kyl's questioning revealed that the CBOs estimated cost of the bill was incorrect, because it was not indexed for inflation due to the fact that aspects of the bill were changed by the Democratic staff that the committee had not voted on. • Interesting exchange though. At what point should politicians disengage from the details and allow "staff" to fill in the gaps? In this case, I'm dubious that discussion in a senate committee would be useful in resolving the question about the indexing. That seems more like a question of implementation, not of the policy itself. If the implications are significant when worked out by others, then bring it to a higher level, but I doubt that.

  • Yes yes yes! Don't give them an inch!

  • Not indexed for inflation? Oh great...

  • 100% of all income tax collected last year paid for bailouts and the wars.

    MY TAXES PAID FOR...

    1) wars I don't support and oppose

    2) bailouts that made Rockefeller/Rothschild owned banks stronger, which I did not want.

and now you want me to spend over a thousand a year for health insurance which I do not need?

    NO

I will not pay one dime for health insurance unless you either...

    A) end the wars or

    B) end the income tax

    it's that simple
