This new short-format web-doc examines campaign finance reform through new eyes, the eyes of Deborah Simpson, a former waitress and single mother who ran for election under Maine's Clean Election statute...and won!

Simpson's inspirational story is juxtaposed with comments of despair and disappointment from on-the-street interviews and masterfully highlighted by Frances Moore Lappé's eloquent and passionate plea for us to embrace this new alternative to the trend of billion-dollar politics.

Based on Lappé's new book, Getting a Grip: Clarity, Creativity and Courage in a World Gone Mad. For more see: http://www.gettingagrip.org/

  • it all looks good on paper,,but the fact remains that until someone takes a stand and shuts down the federal reserve and the central banks NOTHING IN WASHINGTON OR THE WORLD WILL EVER CHANGE!!!

however the one that tries to shut down the reserve and the banks will be killed,,,everyone that has tried has been killed all throughout history.

those that hold supreme power will not give it up without a fight this has been shown as well throughout history

  • Sorry for the rant. It just made me mad that this good and important video only had 2 negative comments that sounded like they were made by spoiled adolecents.

  • @wehl3318 and if you speak out or demand respect you get shot or thrown in jail. So good f***** job. Your a f****** parasite on our system. You are to cynical to actualy do anything at all. If eveyone was like you we'd find ourselves living lives of slavery again like our ancestors did 500 years ago. Selfish, ignorant, lazy, spoiled, all those words come to mind. Did you even try before you gave up on our country. or have you been blaming everyone but yourslef since the sorry day you were born,

  • @ba1234evr Your comment is pretty ignorants. From your comments it is clear that neither of you are willing to work for your quality of life. You feel as though you are entitled to the respect you recieve here in the States. Hopefully neither of you are over the age of 30. Have you never seen the way people are treated in totalitarian states. I;ve seen it first hand. Its not the torture or the murder that realy makes you sad, its the lack of respect. No one give you any.

  • this lady is pretty excited about Democracy. It's pretty entertaining..

  • arizona and maine arent really very important ... specially not elected persons in the state level ... but i don't think "they" the ones behind the curtain wouldn't allow this in a more prosperous place
