There are lots of reasons *WHY* pascal's wager is bullshit argument. But if you don't even bother to explay **why** it's bullshit, then you are as much "bullshit" as Pascal was.

Read his *Pensees* (google it), draw your own conclusions. Pascal was selling a pile of BS, but not in the way most people (and presumably the OP) think he was.

prove me wrong, and explain why you thin the Wager is bullshit...

This really wasn't intended to be taken that seriously. It's clearly not a video about my views on PW, that's been done to death on YouTube & blogs anyway. It's just a bit of fun because theists on twitter use it all the time in debates. If I wanted to make a serious video on PW, I'd have done just that.

In fact--in my experience--not too many theists rely on Pascal's Wager (PW). Some do, I admit, but not too many, and I think PW has almost reached the status of a straw man argument. Certainly I don't know of any serious theologian (ST) who proposes PW as a justification for belief--and it's not clear that Pascal himself did, either!

Similarly, I don't know any STs who justify god-belief with the argument from ignorance i.e. "God is the stuff we don't know"--that, too, is becoming a straw man.

Of course if it does turn out that all of this is the creation of some inexplicable being than one's gotta to believe that eternal damnation like the Trinity and other artifacts of dogma are as I just implied the inventions of our fellow human beings. It defies reason to believe that anything that made us when we, ourselves, feel compassion would then turn around and torture us eternally.

See, that's what I'm talking about. Pascal was aware that you cannot choose/force yourself to believe, and even if you could "god is not fooled". That's not what he says.

He says "live as if you did believe even if you don't". This way, you'll at least live a good life plus you eventually might come to believe it out of habit. Still BS, but a better argument than you've given him credit for.

Just bugs me that lots of people argue against an essay they've never read. Pascal actually anticipates most of the arguments people use against him. Still BS though.
