Originally aired November 14th 1962. This is the 8th Episode from the first season.

It is such a shame that the original theme music has been removed

Note: My WMV encoder is being a bit dodgy at the moment, so the lip sync may be slightly out :-(

  • I am too young to remember the original broadcasts of these early episodes, but during the eighties I seem to recall watching the early reruns in syndication with this intro music. Is annyone shure that this is not the original? I thought the more familiar "Listen to a story 'bout a man named Jed..." opening came out in the second or third season. I could, of course, be quite wrong!

  • @Rod1837 nope, the familiar tune was there since season 1, and is even credited in the end credits. This public domain music was also used on Petticoat Junction when it's earlier seasons became public domain.

  • @Dan97LHS You know the woman playing her voiced the Stepmother, right? And Maleficent in Sleeping Beauty?

  • This Millicent character on this show reminds me of the Wicked Stepmother from Cinderella from Disney, in appearance, that is. This show cracks me up.

  • Used to watch these all the time as a kid.

Of course back them, we never knew they would be classic comedies or classic TV.

Glad we have these oldies to watch, today's shows totally and I mean totally suck.

  • I'm from the hills of Tennessee, and I LOVE IT!!!!!

  • justChiminin. You are right the acting and the jokes, and the way they play it deadpan is

outstanding, what a good cast they were. The remake couldn't get near as good as this.

  • Great screen writing and acting . . those old comedy shows are priceless . .
