Wow! How authentic! It is amazing what we have lost in this country. The money-hungry "christian" entertainment industry should be ashamed of what they have done to us, and we should be ashamed for letting them do it. Our version of a worship service is to just pop in a CD and flash the words on the wall. What a pity.

I went to Primitive Baptist Church with my grandparents (in Texas) as a kid in the 60s. It was a white congregation, but sounded pretty much like this. I expect these folks are using the same "sacred harp" hymnal that my folks used.
Despite the problems, it is not so strange that the two cultures in the south (white and black) developed in parallel with each other, as they also coexisted on so many planes, and worked together in the same towns and agricultural communities.

what is the name of this song?

This makes me smile.

@AmosPressley Agreed, and we're suffering because of it, too. Primitive is the way to go!

Not everyone's worship service is like that though. In my church, music has taken a more rock approach be we have a few congregation members that play guitar piano and drums live.

@panchamkauns You could start by going to fasola.org to locate singings convenient to home for you!

@AmosPressley But isn't it up to us to foster a revival of the simpler, heartfelt songs as sung by our forebears? People like you and me should take it on as a personal crusade to reintroduce this tradition into faithful churches today. If you're a Christian, aren't you ashamed that it took secular folklore societies to do what evangelical and fundamental churches all over our nation should have been doing?

I like it!
