Artist Titus Kaphar discusses the work of art, "Push Yuh Own Damn Boat", that he created as a part of his residency at the Seattle Art Museum, culminating in the exhibition Titus Kaphar: History in the Making, April 4-September 7, 2009. The painting is a response to Thomas Eakins' painting "Rail Shooting on the Delaware" from the Yale Art Gallery, also on view at SAM at the same time as his exhibition.
There needs to be some way to get people to stop watching bullshit-pop-justin-beiber-ass music videos and turn their attention to art THAT IS ACTUALLY MAKING A FUCKING DIFFERENCE.
