Hack & Slash Combat for MMORPG's

Using footage from Oblivion to illustrate that hack & slash combat is both challenging and varied and thus much more fun than the traditional auto-attack and hotbar system used in current MMORPG's.

Any combat system that is so mind numbingly dull and predictable that they can be successfully mastered by computer bots can not be considered "fun" and MUST be cast aside into the bin of mmorpg history.

@0muffins0 is darkfall free to play? and yes auto-attacks get boring but im wait ing for guild wars 2 and play the closed beta of rustyhearts. rustyhearts is a hack and slash dungon style mmo. guild war2 is just revilotionary with no grind, it has a hot bar but no auto-attack. u should cheack it out.

the problem with hack n slash style is it lets the person with the better internet connection win. imagine: instead of tracking what players want to do, the servers would have to track collisions between weapons and players as well. if there is any lag, the game falls apart. thats why wow, rift, allods, etc. uses the hotkey style gameplay.

@he110me Darkfall works fine (mmorpg + fps style combat). Character strength, equipment and player skill make much, much more difference than a ping difference of 100.

@KillEmWithStyle Lol I didn't know you know about Dark messiah xd.. But as time goes by the only RPG I've entitle one the most best combat & physic whole time. Only was DM AKS did amazing job but bashed and critic hate it+Ubisoft cancelling on working progress that show how stupid ignorant they are lol. I just wish AKS just continue would hope there be a sequel on DM 2 cos the ending DM haven't finish throughout yet lol..
