@sbhutto I think the political message at the time was somewhat empowering.
Three well off, pampered and care-free college students commit a heinous crime and receive the same treatment as any other perp.
Had this girl actually had been raped and these boys found guilty, everybody would have been commending Nifong for an amazing conviction. People want to see the law as a one-size-fits-all type of thing - and I believe Nifong was capitalizing on that. Unfortunately, it was his undoing.

That sorry human trash arrogant bastard should be spending life behind the walls of a maximum prison. And YOU KNOW IT! The accuser who had falsely accused other men in the past for the same thing got away with it after ruining the lives of several men and could have potentially put them away for years. And even though the evidence PROVED them innocent this sorry no good was still determined to put them away simply because they were men. Why is that piece of trash still walking the earth?

Sure would be nice if people like Mike got treated to the same judgement that would have been handed to the boys on the team.

So much for whites helping whites hold everyone else down in the world.
On the other hand, I wonder how many cases do go through because people are poor.
As someone who was falsely accused of "making threats", I was charged with defending my character to the CIA.
The people we should fear run the show.

i'm glad that justice, though late, is finally showing up in this case. i hope those boys can make something positive out of this terrible time in their lives. and i hope the community won't allow nonsense like this to exacerbate racial tensions. i hope this is the first step in a long road toward healing.

Mike Nifong is a sick power greedy son of a bitch. He should be in jail for wrongfully accusing these poor boys and tarnishing their lives.
How corrupted and twisted the justice system can be in the US. We disgrace defense attornies of being money hungry son of bitches. Look at this prosecutors how DANGERIOUS he is? And God knows how many prosecutors can be like this in the United States. The Supreme Courts in all the states have to review cases against rogue prosecutors.
