Me (in the blue shorts) Training Bokator in Cambodia in November 2006 at the Yuthakun Khom Academy. The person teaching me is the son of one of the last remaining Bokator teachers. From what i had learned, Bokator is actually a part of an even much larger and broader khmer art called Yuthakun Khom. It was by far one of the most enlighting martial art experiences I've ever had. They do not have much money (in fact my trainer fights in khmer boxing tournaments to support his family), yet faithfully dedicate themselves to the revival of this uniquely Khmer art. My family and I are trying to help them grow into a full fledged school. If you would like to learn, train, or just interested in watching you can contacted me at ricecrsp@earthlink.net and I can provide you with info on how to get in touch. Thanks!!

  • Research Khmer Civilization and the Khmer Empire. Google it.

  • The original kingdom of Cambodia (Khmer Empire) encompassed what is now Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Used to all be Cambodia, so you are most likely correct that Thai copied from Khmer. Maybe they have influence from other cultures as well in Muay Thai fighting style history.

  • Never mind who copied who. Nobody cares except those who are mere spectators. Real martial arts practitioners just enjoy the sport. Less talk, more action.
