Haruhi Suzumiya Optical Illusion

After seeing makazu6683's Lucky Star illusions, I decided to make a Haruhi one. Stare at the black bar slightly above Haruhi's nose. Eventually, the picture will change colour. Keep focused on the black bar, or the illusion will end. No screamers, I promise. I added the colour picture at the end so you can see the actual colours.

So, what am I supposed to be seeing here?

Stare at the black bar in negative picture. Now continue to look at the bar. The black and white picture will look coloured, as long as stare at the bar. As soon as you look away, your eyes will adjust, and the picture will look black and white.

At first I thought it was just a lightly-colored effect, like someone dowsed it with diffuse light or something. When I tried it again it was fully colored and I was like 'WUOH HOLY CRAP'.

I can still see the imprint of haruhi on the white as I type :D;

Wow, that's pretty cool. When I first watched it I thought, "There's a negative image and two colored images. Huh?" So I watched it again without focusing, and turns out the second one was actually grayscaled :O
