Also for July 4th, a clip from the 1984 special, "Don't Eat the Pictures". I know Washingto crossing the Deleware didn't occur on July 4th, but it still has some American history sigifigance.

  • He really did catch a cold. That's what killed him.

  • Awesome show!!!!

  • @musicbox193

    It's a joke from Ernie.

  • @tifahentai There was no George Washington Bridge back then, he wasn't even alive when it was built. And also it's over the Hudson River, not the Delaware

  • i don't watch seseme st anymore but cookie monster and ernie and bert are my favorites!!!!!

  • of course the GW bridge is an hour away from Washington's Crossing hehe - I live 5 min from the spot where Washington crossed the Delaware

  • Ernie's got a point at the end.

  • Actually, it's the other way around, because he was making a surprise attack on the Hessians who were planning an attack in Trenton.

  • The painting was done by a famous German artist named "Emmanuel G. Leutze"

  • If you look closely at the faces in "Washington Crossing the Delaware" you'll see they're all the same.
