use mash instead of water, way better for you

Even though distilled water doesn't have minerals, it is still OK to drink. Plus, you don't need to get your minerals from water. You get them from food. Do you know you would have to drink 650 cups of water just to reach the daily requirement for calcium? It is perfectly fine to drink distilled water and I've been doing so for years. I actually recommend it. it's the cleanest water there is.

@allayna82 how big does the distiller have to be in order to drink up to 5 gallons of water per day?
-
in the diagram at 0:44, I dont understand the part where it says "condenser", maybe you can add some words or other pictures to explain that part
-
@allayna82 - there may be some terminology confusion. distilled as in 'boiled it and recollected steam without salts etc condensed back into water' should be safe to use but it's not nearly as healthy as natural fresh water. ideally you'd want to energise it in some way after distilling it, to try to revive it's structure and vitality.

@tippo747 - yeah you can distill it and also you get salt to use too, or do the reverse osmosis thing.

where are the giant lily pads.

Good basic info! Not for the dude stranded at sea but maybe the guy stranded at home after an earth quake or some other act of nature where our water system is contaminated or not functioning. You could use a wood fire if gas was not available. My only concern is at higher temps in a pressure cooker other chemicals may be evaporating off and into your water. Although heavy metals and salts will be left behind! And this will kill any bacteria or parasites.

same way as to make spirits..(alcahol)
