Several professionals have told me if u watch him u c he has the most perfect technique better than Horowitz. These were professionals with excellent training all I can say is I prefer almost everyone n this .Casadesus and Bolet i dislike their tone and their phrasing strusture in this sonata.Pogo and Argerich the best .Novaes I'd like to hear in this,Lippatti ,RubinsteinCherkassy, even Hofmann left a rec ofIV movement. Arrau want to hear . Viardo,Duchable,Cliburn and all the others
Bolet is a virtuoso, no doubt. But I don't feel moved.... quite academic...he aligns phrases aone after another, without coordinating them into a sound concept , and beyond, a musical vision of the piece...as a picture of this, listen to Pogorelich and his "organic" concept of the piece which inspires him the phrasé and the energy into each note....
I know what you mean, Bolet does NOT pplay legato, he never payed anything legato and with singing tone,... and that is what chopin demands, listent to Arrau and Rubinstein, they knew how to make the piano sing !!!!! not Bolet,....
@arturon111 I think the right touch depends on the exact piece, and sometimes even the exact movement. Seems like this sort of playing fits this particular movement rather well.
