  • Looks like the wolfskill departure unless they got an early turnout to the east approved from the skyes1.

  • @AV8R4HM yeah it departed Sunday night. He told clearance that he was ''too heavy'' and would not be able to make it to SKYES at 12,000. So he set out to do the obstacle departure and circle over the base till he got to about 8k then head for the SKYES1 but I guess once he was airborne he realized he could make it and corrected it.

  • @rampking1 we need this because we use Leclerc EAU AMX-56 Azur so we need to get it to Afganistan this is our mission we got over 403 Leclercs in UAE Armed Force and 600 BMP-3s so we need transport France got 180 Leclerc S2 T-9 AMX-56 and 105 Leclerc S2 T-11 AMX-56 Azur we are friends

  • I towed that girl first after delivery because the U30 they bought couldn't be unloaded on time.

  • @aescobar32 Of course it can do all that, for a country you can fly over in a matter of minutes. Bear in mind that one of the primary minimal loads for the C-17 was being able to carry on M1A2 Abrams heavy tank.

There is no foreign mission, military or humanitarian on the menu. This is a specialized roll on, drive off transport. They could have bought a 747F and saved the money.

All good though, keeps the C-17 production line open and brings a few petro dollars back.

  • @rampking1 anything from troop transport to vehicles, other aircraft, equipment... so many uses...

  • @aescobar32 Okay, I have dismissed the humanitarian angle, you tell me where there is a viable 'military' mission for a UAE C-17 ? Before you respond, don't forget now that the UAE was promising air support for the people revolting against Gaddafi....for various reasons never showed up did they?

If you have some facts to counter my points, let me know.

I am willing to listen and investigate all.

  • @aescobar32 Okay , let me spell it out. Fly what material to what location where a heavy lift transport C-17 would be needed ? Where is the mission ??

1O small NATO countries and two other countries have bought and are sharing 3 C-17's, outside of the control of NATO or the EU. Between the 12 there are numerous mission scenarios ( like the recent quake in Turkey)

As history has shown , Rich oil Countries like the UAE give little money or aid to any other country in the world.

  • @rampking1 a transport aircraft is a transport aircraft... i dont understand your reasoning of judging other countries' potential by their geographical size...

  • Question, why does a tiny country like the UAE need the heavy lift factor of a new C-17 in it's Air Force ???? Enlighten me. To deliver parts for it's new F-16 block 60's?
