On January 14, 2012, an officer of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) refused to delay airline's flight PK-590 for Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police.
The flight had seat bookings for a total of 48 passengers including Inspector General (IG) of Sindh Police.
The deputy shift manager Irshad Ali Rind and flight PK-590 captain rejected attempts by some people to delay flight's departure for IG of Sindh Police.
The ATR 42-500 departed on time at 12:30PM with 46 passengers.
On January 18, at 1:00AM, Mr. Rind was taken from his residence by police and was accused of being involved in "acts of terrorism". Later, he was released after intervention by Sindh Home Minister Manzoor Hussain Wassan.
Representatives of Pakistan Air Line Pilots Association (PALPA) and other bodies/unions of PIA employees have expressed their support for Mr. Rind.
PIA management and PALPA should take responsibility and highlight this before the higher ups in the government.
