The percentage of deadbeat moms is actually higher than that of dads who won't pay, even though mothers are more consistently awarded custody of children by the courts.

Census figures show only 57 percent of moms required to pay child support 385,000 women out of a total of 674,000 give up some or all of the money they owe. Geraldo. I appreciate the plight of any child or single parent who is abandoned by the other. I am offended because the advertisement singles out "Dead Beat Dads". As Lori and Vicky point out Dead Beats are also Mom's. Very often the Dad's alone carry this title and all to often Dead Beat Mom's are given a pass and not even mentioned in today's society. I abhor politically correct society. However if I must be stuck with it, would not the term "Dead Beat Parent" be more accurate?
