In So Cal, a high surf alert was issued for The Wedge (15-20ft) in Newport Beach, CA and other south facing beaches by way of massive waves surfacing the previous week in Tahiti at the Billabong Pro.
These monster waves riding 1st class all the way from Teahupoo were so huge (over 25ft!!), the ASP World Tour had to put a stop to the event issuing a "Code Red" for conditions being too dangerous for surfing in shallow reefs.
This brought "The OC some of the biggest waves for the summer of 2011, as well as huge crowds flocking to the world famous surf spot!!
Was that a shark on the last wave?
