on a side note, its funny how well actors from england or australia can drop their native accent to play american chracters but american actors have such a hard time trying to put on foreign accents

You can't compare Jack Nicholson's Joker with Heath Ledgers's. They are two characters completely different, while Ledger's Joker was aimed at a more realistic villain and psycopath, Nicholson'ts was the usual cartoon kind of guy, the Joker from the comics. Comparing them is impossible!
