I used to see this guy in the |Greenwich theater years ago. Often had a pint with him after. 'Genuine' if I was only allowed one word to describe him. R.I.P.

I played piano with once at a club in London and he got up and sang a risque song called "shave 'em dry." He had no fear!

@flashtheoriginal Saw your post on homer151 George Melly's video.
Probably no chance of putting Nuts on. I was about to spend time making a 'video' then I noticed the CD was put out by Warner Brothers. If you try and put one of their copyrighted tracks on they mute the video (which is a complete waste of time)
If I can find a later rerecording for another label (Pye perhaps) I'll do it!

Great!
I have been a fan of George Melly since I first saw him in person in the 1950's. I saw him in concert in Glasgow in the late 1990's.
Although he had to perform seated on a chair, the wit and flamboyance was intact.
Thank you for posting this classic.
