Awesome ballad "High On A Mountain Top" by Iron Butterfly from the 1975 album, Scorching Beauty.

Never knowing the world without you
Never knowing or Ill never doubt you
Never knowing just where you come from
Never knowing if i could be some one with you

High on a mountain top where only i could see
High on the love for you
And you would come to find
Whats upon my mind
Just a little love in my life

Never knowing how hard I love you
Never knowing if my hearts above you
Never knowing how hard we try
Never knowing if I life or die with you

High on a mountain top where only i could see
High on the love for you
And you would come to find
Whats upon my mind
Just a little love in my life

High on a mountain top where only i could see
High on the love for you
And you would come to find
Whats upon my mind
Just a little love in my life

High on a mountain top
Love in my life
High on a mountain top
Love in my life
High on a mountain top

  • Tim Kilen left Iron Butterly right before the big hit. He played lead back up for Three Dog Night for years and the parties raged in Crestline, California at his house. I miss him. We were tight. I can't seem to find pictures of him on the net anywhere. Can somebody guide me?

  • The four musicians pictured played on the In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida album but it was a different lineup by 1975.

  • Good music relaxes you but great music brings back great memories. When I was a kid we used to picnic alot and my Dad used to bring the turntable along. It was powered by 8 D-cell batteries and he always had Butterfly with. People used to gather around and when all was said and done there were 6 to 8 families around us all groovin' to the music. I wish we still had that; because you won't see that in today's world.

  • Thank you for posting this great classic!!

  • My uncle has passed from this life, but every time I hear iron butterfly, especially this song and butterfly blue, I tear up. He used to pick me up from my dads in a vw baja bug in the valley and drive me to arrowhead where he stayed,so I could spend quality time with my cousins( his kids) and he would jam all the classics from the Doors to C.C.R! God I miss him and I love the music!!! Classic rock for life!

  • Great song! Thank you so much for posting.

  • Thanks so much for posting this.

It really is an awesome ballad. Though I've only actually heard the song again a few months ago- after God knows how many years- the song has, over the decades, never quite left me. Snatches of it have come to ear from time to time.

  • good old rock

  • hippie style dude. i like
