Full Story: http://bit.ly/hemULn On Tuesday, the House of Representatives rejected the extension of three unconstitutional surveillance tools within the Patriot Act. The House voted 277-148 in favor of the extension, but Republicans brought the bill to the floor using a special procedure which required a two-thirds majority, a number they narrowly missed. The news of the failed extension has been seen as a victory to many Americans.

The Patriot Act, a bill which has been engulfed in controversy since its arrival has been known to infringe on civil liberties by allowing law enforcement to use warrant-less wiretaps and advanced surveillance systems. Many methods defined within the Patriot Act could be seen as "invasion of privacy."

If the Patriot Act extension actually passed, it would have renewed the authority for wiretaps on multiple phone lines, given the FBI access to anything relevant to terrorism investigations and permit secret intelligence surveillance of non-U.S. citizens who are not affiliated with any terrorist organizations.

  • I believe in my rights I think the patriot is a poor act. I dislike it so much, not feeling right at home in my country right now.

  • now thats a true american !!

  • Google search - NYTimes Sues The Federal Government For Refusing To Reveal Its Secret Interpretation Of The PATRIOT Act. “We’re getting to a gap between what the public thinks the law says and what the American government secretly thinks the law says." There's a secret court ruling out there that says the government can spy on a ton of people under the Patriot Act, even though the text of the law seems to suggest otherwise.Senators Wyden & Udall have sued federal gov.Look it up!!! Pass it on.

  • @sprocket228 Oh! Sorry, I didn't realize I was transcription with an 18 tear old. You are to young to know what's really going on with governments and what they really are. They are a gun! Stay open minded, neutral, center, non-bias! PS: It's ok to stand next to you nations flag, but if they winds of change, change directions; that same flag may impair your vision of what your government is doing! I was once like you!

  • @sprocket228 Excuse me! Did you reply to this comment that I made? (The constitution is the patriot act. The patriot action is to not violate the constitution) The patriot act the government recently put into action is NOT PATRIOTIC! Patriots don't violate the constitution, TRADERS DO! It just doesn't get any more plain and simple as that! Second, you called me a brainless fool and that is a smear tactic that show childishness and intellectual retreat.

  • @TABOOVSKNOWLEDGE read the constitution man and stop being a brainless fool

  • the sad fact is it wont matter when FEMA calls a national emergancy and side steps the constitution

  • AND THE TRUTH SHALL SET US FREE

  • He's got guts.I like him.The others in the house&senate are an embarrassment to our country. Any freekinghalf braindead person can vote along party lines. Look up all of their voting records&check the percentage amount they vote along party lines, it is shameful!! & we are PAYING them to represent us, and once they in, they ignore what the constituents want, &ignore what is right for America! Ron/Rand Paul,&Kucinich are the only one's with enough guts to stand up for what is right for America.

  • The constitution is the patriot act

The patriot action is to not violate the constitution
