Bernadette's Summer of Love1, Aquarius

(Featuring the song, Aquarius, from the 60s muscial, Hair!)

Well, amigos, i didn't really want to clean that kitchen... So here i am playing my little flute, in a tribute to another time. I used to always carry one of these little flutes in my backpack in highschool and college, because in california it is always warm, and you can sit under any tree in any park on any campus and play... So I did!!

Okay, so my chops were better then, in fact, really really good. But I haven't really played much in a couple of decades or so, and i only had a couple of hours to make this little film!! (It was the concept i was after, not perfection.)

The really nice thing is, it really is kind of like riding a bicycle. You retain a rudimentary skill in musical things, even once you've stopped for a long while. (And of course you know what to do to ramp it back up again.) I'm just glad i remembered where some of those accidentals were.

I used one of my clumsier takes because i was so pleased by the birds outside singing back to me at the end. Felt quite like mother nature herself, or maybe her sister or something... It feels happy playing music from my time because that was how it always made me feel then. Impossibly giddy and sweet and joyful...and happy.
