I was taught by an old Navy Chief cook back in the 70's the grill cooking method of using ice to melt (steam) items on a hot grill. It's an old method that was used by Navy cooks since World War Two and possibly even sooner. I used it myself working Bob's Big Boy as a cook in Tucula Lake (Burbank, California). In that Bob's store they had a car drive-in service.
