  • She has two qualities in abundance that all fine singers must have- a free tone and exquisite control. Brava Ingeborg Hallstein!

  • @TheVerdiBaritone

her voice flows like crystal water :)

  • She has a very very thin sopranovoice which coudln´t fit for example a great Verdi opera or a Wagner. Her voice has a typically sound for an Operette and the technique is not useful today. You must have much more of head and sound colomn, both at the bottom the middle and even on the high notes. She is particular! But only in what she is singing.I can´t imagine her as a Leonora in Il Torvatore for example. Good to hear anyway.

  • @prince2000ful

a Trovatore Leonora? lol Is that supposed to be an offense for her? that a Stratospheric Soprano Coloratura would not sing a good Trovatore Leonora?

She is first class singer of her Kind, which is that of the extremely highly tuned Coloratura Sopranos.

As for the sound column in the middle did Devia, Gruberova and Sills have one ? most definitely not and they sang Assoluta roles (Bolena) without having tomatoes thrown at them (as they should)

  • @prince2000ful

this is exactely why she didn't sing Verdi or Wagner - as far as I know, because her voice was best for other music. As a voice teacher I can tell you, that not every voice is able to sing any kind of music. You can't compare her with something that wouldn't fit her voice. - and don't forget that for a very long time, composers wrote their music for a special singer who had special abilities, like singing very high, very loud, very low... :-)

  • @aworysse

exactly, it would be like saying that Hallstein wasnt that good because she could never sing Brunhilde or Abigaile!!

And it is exactly because of the fact that she stayed in the repertoire that her voice was made for and didnt start singing the Assoluta roles (Norma, Bolena, Elisabetta etc) that makes me admire her so much. Besides all these pieces she sang so beautifully are almost unknown even to comitted opera fans.

  • Stunning voice, was enchanted long before the whistle. I am in love.

  • fantastische zangeres, een hoog genot om naar te luisteren

  • @prince2000ful At least Hallstein did not need prove that she should do every role there is to prove she is great. Hallstein is intwelligent and sensitive that she made the most of what she has. She stayed true and in her trueness she shines. She interprets well but most of all er artistry and musicianship is natural. Leonore, Odabella, Armide and the other big roles are not the Only roles in opera. There are too many, thats the real beauty. Monopoly is bad, really bad. NOw look, are there any?

  • @LohengrinT To suggest: 1. that the most admired rarity is only size of instrument, is to reduce a fine art to the similar standards of pornography in which size of instrument is appropriately most important. 2: that charm and nuanced musicality are not a rarities themselves to be desired, is to cast out of the repertoire an entire volume of music for which those are precisely the appropriate approach.

Apt tone for the music being sung is an extreme rarity today, and most desired in a Fine Art.
