A Holden Commodore police car responds up Queen Street. There's a second cop car as well, you can just barely make it out, but it pulls over.

  • Does NZ make any cars?

  • Nope. We have in the past, there was a Holden plant here for a while, and more recently a Toyota plant in the early 1990's, but not anymore. I think the Hulme F1 is made here, but that's not really a production car...

  • in England and Germany they use series 5 BMWs! Even the Aussies are starting to use non Aussie made cars! Love the videos of the kiwis stuff, well done.

  • Thanks mate! Yeah, it makes sense buying diesel BMWs in Europe with the way fuel prices are going, but the only cost-effective alternatives we have down here are smaller front-drivers, not really ideal. :-/

  • If your the kiwicanuck that is on trade me could you do a video of your lightbar that you brought!!

  • Hmmm, it must be a different kiwicanuck, there are a few others around. Send me a link though if you can, it sounds interesting!

  • Well we have a few Unmarked Police Hummers, subaru WRX's, Mitsubishi Evo's...

But as I said, the main cars are commodores and falcons....

I guess they can do without the snobby electronics and posh rubbish.

Over here in Australia, BMW is mostly for girls and men who spend hours in front of their mirrors slicking back their hair and flexing their muscles. Cops don't want to look queer.

People buy BMW's as a status symbol...enthusiasts buy cars for grunt, not for the badge.

  • As if Australia could afford to buy more than one BMW. yeh we use Sportivo Aurions as well. They are more commonly used as Detective and unmarked Highway Patrol units.

  • Thanks for the reply,

Oh well, you could always just put the Hulme F1 into mass production for NZ,

there'd be some pretty fast kiwis

  • Yeh, Qld Police has quite a few Sportivo Aurions, but they still have way more commodores/falcons, BMW's don't have the same effect as the 6.0

Litre V8 Highway Patrol SS Commodores.
