i remember watching this a long time ago - and somehow thought that matt frewer was a good holmes. now it cracks me up - talk about overacting.

still, i like the fact that he;s wearing persian slippers; sacd does mention that holmes owns a pair, the line about watson's talent for stimulating genius is also canon.

@thesedaysanybody haha i love how he's such a funny holmes! apart from his quirky personality, much of it stays quite true to the book i think, whenever i read the books i always picture matt frewer, takes away some of the tension a little

I love them as well, I adore how quirky and simply eccentric this version of holmes is. They also do excellent english accents and I wouldn't have known they were Canadian!!

He's acting like Matt Frewer. I think my biggest issue is that some of his speech patterns are so distinctive. He can't seem to shake them (it doesn't help that he ALWAYS speaks frenetically).

Couldnt care less who else played SHERLOCK, love the classics but Matt is my perfect sherlock. My fave series.

Matt Frewer is the first and actually the only actor I've seen playing Holmes (apart from Downey Jr.) and I never felt he was overacting I simply felt this was the character of Holmes, always excited. I must check out this Brett fellow since he is supposed to be better then Frewer.

I actually dig Matt Frewer as Sherlock Holmes, he's not imitating another actor, he's really tying to make the role his own. And he definitely overacts but his Holmes just revels in his own genius he has such enthusiasm for being the cleverest man in the room.

I loved Matt Frewer as Holmes! He certainly has the look down, and as far as his acting everyone has their own interpretations of Holmes. For instance, I personally thought Ronald Howard's performance (from the 50s) was rather bland. My favorite of the "classic" Holmes actors is Jeremy Brett.

@vlaerenko lol YA! Esp in the movie Lemoney Snickets, and with that accent! lol its exactly the same, the over acting, the clothing...everything HAHA!
