  • Thanks from a 40 year old woman who when she was a girl, never missed a concert ever from the time I was 6 months old until they stopped touring. This brings back special memories especially now that I'm a Cancer Survivor myself. Thank you!

  • mee too from 1990 on i saw every episode of the show went to every concert bought their t shirts pencils trading cards and statler brothers dog. and every lp cd or tape i could get my hands on they even signed a pic for my schools auction to benefit ms god bless them.

  • To me the best and most favorite Statler songs were written when Lew was with them!

All the memorable songs came from that era!

But Jimmy is great and fits in just fine...

    God Bless Lew Dewitt.

  • yes god bless lew!!

  • Lew really did better than Jimmy---so sad

that he had to leave the group and then

    passed away

  • yes lewis calvin dewitt will be missed

  • I really love to listen to Lew's beautiful tenor voice. It is so sad that he suffered long term illness and died young. The Statlers are an amazing group. In the U. K. we never had the opportunity to watch them on television, and I appreciate the opportunity to see them on You Tube. Thank you for this clip.

  • why even try to compare them, simply appreciate the styles and how they each, of their own ability complimented a truly awesome quartet of singers who, we need more of today.

Appreciate them for who they EACH are, and smile and enjoy...

    My two cents...

see all

  • Today, 20 years ago we lost one of the most beautiful voices ever...We'll miss you Lew DeWitt....you were something special

  • They were great with Lou but Jimmy filled in as well as anyone could. That Statlers were one of the best country music acts of all time and will hold a special place in my heart forever.

  • Thank you so much DollyJunkie for sharing this GREAT song of faith. Had never heard this one . Wow - Simply fantastic !! God bless

  • rip Lew you were the best tenor ever. We miss you.

  • I finally obtained Lew's LP, On My Own, converted it to MP3, and placed the songs here on You Tube. Hopefully they'll stay for awhile before being kicked off for copyright. It wasn't easy to obtain because they didn't make a whole lot. Enjoy them while they last.

  • they both brought somthing special

    to them.

  • Lew sang with such sweetness and clarity, and when his voice soared with such ease, it uplifted the listener with it. His replacement is a beautiful singer in his own right, of course.

  • I would hope that people who are weighing in on this understand who arranged to have Jimmy Fortune chosen as the replacement for Lew Dewitt. .....It was Lew Dewitt himself that chose Jimmy! Seems to me that if Jimmy was good enough for lew.....he ought to be good enough for all of you. I cared a great deal for both of them.
