Michael Maslansky, CEO of maslansky luntz + partners, sits down with Fox and Friends hosts Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade to talk about the top three Super Bowl commercials of all time - why some take the cake and others fall flat.
His top pick: Apple (1984), Launching the Macintosh. What else is there to say? It ran only once, it was spot on, entertaining and had a lasting impact.
Runner up: Monster.com (1999), This commercial featured the line "I want to claw my way up to middle management" as stated by a young boy talking about his career aspirations. This has to be one of the best lines a Super Bowl ad could have. Monster.com struck a chord using children's (mediocre) career aspirations, and people connected instantly.
Last but not least: Budweiser (2000), "Wassup???" "Just watching the game, having a Bud." Enough said.
Michael Maslansky's "Three C's" to keep in mind whie watching ads during the big game:
1. Cars (especially GM)
2. Consumer-generated (Pepsi Max and Doritos joint campaign "Crash the Superbowl")
3. (Lack of) Creativity...the one that bombs.
