What We Saw at the Mortgage Bailout Demonstration

On April 16 in Washington, D.C., the Ad Hoc National Network to Stop Evictions & Foreclosures organized a demonstration outside a meeting of the Mortgage Bankers Associaton at the Washington Court Hotel.

reason.tv's Dan Hayes and Michael C. Moynihan checked out the demonstration and talked with some of the activists, who quickly changed the subject from home loans to Castro's Cuban paradise, the need to free Mumia Abu Jamal, forgiving student loans, the Rothschilds (!), Haitians eating a mixture of dirt and oil (!?!?), and much, much more

Ameritards cannot even take responsibility for their own financial mistakes, Big Brother will come in and save them. You buy a house that puts a big strain on your monthly budget, then, you go out and buy a bunch of junk with a credit card, then, you get a heloc so you can go out and buy more junk. This bothers me so much. I've only been to a few anti-war and bailout protests.....but I often find that I'm the only Capitalist in a sea of Socialists and Communists! During the rally, the speeches given ALWAYs turn off the topic of whatever the protest is to some speaker with a hardcore Marxist agenda.

A government that has the power to give you everything you need has the power to take it all away.

The government doesn't build anything (besides weapons) hence it can't erect houses without forcibly taking the resources from someone else.

Plus, what if I like being a farmer? Should I simply change my values and perception of the world to conform to the way the government wants me to live?

You ideal man is a robot who will change who they are to suit the needs of the government. No freethinking person with a drop of self-esteem should or would ever subjugate themselves to such a system.

Simple example refuting your point:

Say you're a farmer. Your success comes from your ability to grow crops, which you can then consume/trade.

However, if a government comes and confiscates/destroys your crops, it induces teh failure.
