I remember first watching this I did not understand the crowd reaction, the jokes regarding fisting and Hampstead Heath plus I was only 18, but a few years later I get it now.

@LFCEOIN Because the establishment and media couldn't swallow it at the time as comedy. But the fact it was before the 9pm cut off may have been a factor.

@MOONST0MP It was a 'period ' in time when it was something different, funny and challenging - maybe from the mid sixties and slowly ebbed off in the mid 90's. Now many Gay comedians and presenters don't have or need to focus on it. Though all the best comedians use themselves as a joke and their sexuality is not off limits.

One of the best things is JC just kept a straight after he'd said it, as if he'd said something ordinary ! ; like he was in a world of his own.Very intelligent guy
