Very weird sound issues on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.4.11. It started out as an audio "pop" similar to issues others had with 10.4.10 (though I did not). Then I noticed something very odd happening on the sound preference pane.

In this video you can see the sound cutting out and the preference pane switching values while some music plays in the background. The music dies when the bug happens. Also, the volume control switches to max volume with mute(?). You can see that part at the very end.

If anyone has an idea of what's doing this, please leave a comment.

  • Discovered it was an issue with the headset jack. Something was triggering the digital audio jack inside. Simply cleaned the jacks and everything started to work again.
