  • Good point and I suppose it depends on your personal viewpoint.

Whilst the Lifeguards and Blues and Royals are undoubtedly cavalry bands I suspect that those who served in the cavalry regard the mounted bands as being different to them.

All of the correspondence I have had with these people indicates that there is a delineation between the ceremonial mounted cavalry and the cavalry as a whole.

Unfortunately I don't have sufficient historical knowledge to answer your question precisely.

    Sorry

  • Other than the fact that the two bands featured are the only 2 remaining cavalry bands in the British Army?

    Nothing

  • Nice display. So the HC & C Band are combined with the Band of the RL Corps? Both bands should make about 70 if they were full strength, but I guess thats not the case here. The Slow March I think is the old classic "Golden Spurs", followed by I think "Carry On" and then "Grandioso" ? Just educated guesses on my part. Who are the pipes & drums off to the side? Do we have anymore of this display?

  • You are correct on all three of the marches!

The bands on parade are the Heavy Cavalry and Cambrai Band and the Light Cavalry Band.

This was filmed from the top of the officer's mess in Bovington. I do not have any more of it. Although I filmed the whole display wind noise means that I couldn't post the rest of it.

Not sure who the pipes are!

  • Does the cameraman of this video fancy the Boss of the LC Band?? We seem to have a lot of close ups! Hee hee!

  • I'm just quite proud that I kept a fairly steady hand on super zoom!

  • Nice display. Rare to have both bands together like that.

  • These bands do an excellent job. Thank you for your effort in posting this video.

  • Nice display

  • Hi bgrobin66! Have a look at videos of the rifles/greenjackets. light infantry bands......They are in my opinion, the best! My mate was a bugler in what was the Durham Light Infantry (DLI) and he got me into this music. Best wishes from the UK
