You turn the wheel if someone spins in front of you! do you think pilots have to drive with one hand or two? yes, one. the other is on the throttle. :) Plus, there was a gear shifter issue that required extra pressure to keep it in and get it in gear. missing a shift was much more of a danger avoided.
see my other videos to see what happens when someone spins in front of me! by the way, they usually spin because their one or two hands are in the wrong position!
