Etheline: You must read David Bret's "Piaf - A Passionate Life" to get nearer the truth re Berteaut('Mõmon') & her supposed friendship w/ Piaf! The woman was an opportunist - taking advantage of her very early friendship of Piaf!

I would *never* read or trust Simone Betraut's bio re Edith Piaf! She was a friend early in Piaf's life & then simply used Piaf's mercurial career for her own devises - stealing vast sums of money from Piaf & *making up most* of her recollections re Edith! A freeloader on Piaf's life! She made million+ w/ her bio of Piaf - yet ended up a pauper.

In fact, she said Edith Piaf believed in life after death ( a true believer) and Ouija by moving tables, and Edith was expecting Marcel could speak to her throught this Ouija and she makes believe to Edith it was working in fact by cheating, but by friendship, just to make her happy.

no , she died on 1975. and the clip of Padam from the Ed Sullivan show is the first apparaence of Edith Piaf in this show, the 21th September 1952 and not 1956

This one is seldom but the year of making is wrong because Berteaut died on 30.05.1970!
So this one was made shortly before her death ind 1970! If anyone has the complete Interview on tape please contact me!
