Great song.
The lyrics could easily be re-written and it could be re-titled 'The Fat Sheila's Lament'
' The other girl's arse is always leaner'
And maybe Petula could re-record it as such.

Another fab track from our lovely Petula, what a voice!!

Something about this song I always liked....oh yeah, it was done by one of the greatest performer ever!!!!

yes marlbro I was brought on what is called real music ( classical as well as show music and this genre) and it was good decision for me, even though many of my peer group though me strange and didn't know alot of music I liked which is sad I didn't care then and dont now, I think it does make you a more intelligent and cultured person and I was even younger than you when I was introduced to it!

My father chose for me to grow up on real music (classical...as well as this genre)
Although his decision was good....since I'm a more intelligent and cultured individual.....his explanation of why he did it was kind of....different (I was 8 when he told me)
Me: Dad how come we always listen to like....classic stuff?
Dad: Because I'll be damned if niggers are going to influence my child.

i guess this type of song and its style of singing are gone forever . its a crying shame isnt it? even though there is a load of talent out there this just has a certain atmosphere to it . wonderful

Gotta love Tony Hatch's mastery of counterpoint ! (Check out the Bass Guitar/Brass at 0.44 seconds) - This is songwriting at it's VERY best and Petula's Vocal is absolutely Immaculate

Yeah, great Petula song which should have been bigger. Writer Tony Hatch was to Petula what Burt Bacharach was to Dionne Warwick back then, her hitsmeister. Hatch was also the Simon Cowell of his day on the 70s UK talent show "New Faces". His acid comments directed at the supremely untalented earned him the name Tony Hatchet, LOL. One thing I admired about Petula Clark was her perfect diction - you could clearly hear every word on her recordings.
